Monde Selection appoints a Jury of eminent experts to evaluate the quality of Waters & Soft-Drinks.

These experts take the time to taste and analyse each product individually on quality aspects that matter most to consumers. Products obtaining a final score above 60% are granted one of our prestigious quality awards. This label will highlight the product quality and reassure the consumer in his purchase process.

Evaluation process

Our evaluation process goes far beyond regular tastings, it consists of a 360° quality evaluation on up to 25 criteria that matter most to consumers worldwide.

To be the most objective, the evaluation is not blind. The experts receive a complete presentation of the product, including origin, composition and any particularities in order to have a global understanding of the product before starting the individual evaluation.

After validating their individual results, the members of the jury share their knowledge and opinions to unanimously validate the final result.

To complete the quality evaluation of a product, the jury may request specific scientific analysis related to the type of product.
To carry out these laboratory tests, Monde Selection partners with officially approved laboratories which are accredited by the Belgian Federal Public Service.

This methodology will guarantee a fair and global analysis of each product for the consumer.

The quality is measured by

Visual: [Waters] Clarity and brilliance - [Soft-drinks] Colour, saturation and clearness.
Nose: [Waters] Cleanliness and purity - [Soft-drinks] Bouquet (set of olfactory notes), complexity, harmony.
Mouth: [Waters] Harmony, intensity, residual taste, level of carbonation, etc - [Soft-drinks] Sweetness, acidity, bitterness, fruity, etc.
Mouthfeel: Softness, carbonation feeling if applicable, freshness, refreshing sensation, etc
Overall harmony: Balance between nose and mouth, overall appreciation of the product
Scientific Evaluation: Correspondence between legislation and analysis, honest and trustworthy labelling claims
Packaging: Label information, protection of the product, materials used, ease of use, etc.

By experienced
water sommeliers & flavour technologists

The Jury appointed by Monde Selection is exclusively composed of water sommeliers and flavour technologists specialised in the field.

For the sensory evaluation of waters and soft-drinks, Monde Selection has developped a close collaboration with Doemens Academy, Germany.

Doemens Academy is an internationnally recognised institute specialized in the mineral water, spring water and soft drinks sensory assessment.

Quality Labels

Products having obtained a final result of minimum 60% are awarded a Quality Label of Bronze, Silver, Gold or Grand Gold by the Jury of Experts.

This label can be displayed on the awarded product for a period of 3 years without additional costs.

Our Quality Labels are a guarantee for consumers that the product has been highly appreciated and validated by a professional jury.
