The potato slices are cooked exclusively in cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil from a local cooperative (Almazaras de la Subbética) that has won several awards for the quality of its products.
Although the company also began marketing products in a classic format two years ago, its distinctive mark remains that of a remarkably designed case containing small pre-portioned tea doses for single infusions, these doses being further contained in a small aluminium box that protects the product from oxidation under nitrogen.
Among a selection of a dozen locally rooted teas marketed by Xiao Guan Cha and processed under the close and careful supervision of eight renowned experts— the Monde Sélection jury was particularly impressed by the quality of the brand’s Jasmine green tea.
As each of the little capsules is extracted from its sumptuous case, it gives off a marvellous fragrance and flavour, rendered all the more astonishing given the lack of jasmine flowers in the product itself.
The blend is indeed so powerful that the jurors almost found it difficult to even recognise the green tea behind the splendid aroma of this beverage.
Infused according to the instructions, that is to say 20 seconds for 4 g in 200 ml of water, the resulting tea presented itself in the form of a fairly clear and slightly cloudy liquid, but with a magnificent texture and a simply breath-taking floral fragrance.
However, while such power could have sparked fears of saturating the taste buds, the tasters nevertheless noticed a remarkable balance, one of them commenting: “The power of the jasmine is prolonged over a beautiful length in the mouth, unmarred by any astringency…”
A remarkable tea, both in terms of its luxurious presentation and its splendid organoleptic characteristics, which made it the unquestionable recipient of this Grand Gold Medal and of the Jury Prize 2021.
