Salta Negra

Developed by Salta Brewery, located in the city of Salta in the northwestern province of Salta, Argentina, Salta Negra is a dark ale beer.

A dark beer with nice roasted aromas

Packaged in a brown glass bottle with a cap and an unusual volume of 1000 cm3, equivalent to one liter, this beer features a classic label presentation that provides limited information, mainly indicating that the brewery was established in 1958.

Upon opening, this beer, clearly brewed with well-roasted malts, reveals a relatively intense black color, as suggested by its name. Its cafe au lait-colored foam is generous, dense, and has excellent retention.

The nose is highly aromatic and pleasant, with lovely notes of coffee, caramel, roasted malt, and even chocolate.

In the mouth, this beer proves to be quite light, refreshing, and quenching, without excessive sweetness but with delightful hints of burnt caramel.

The finish is marked by a very moderate bitterness that gently lingers with somewhat indulgent notes.

Overall, it is a very enjoyable beer that led the tasters at Monde Selection to select it as the winner for the Jury Prize in this category.

“Each year, one product per category is awarded the Prize of the Jury as a token of excellence in know-how and quality. In order to qualify, the product must be unanimously selected as a “coup de cœur” by the jury members. The winner of the Prize of the Jury is then selected from a group of just 5 nominees, which makes this award an even greater honour for the recipient.”
