On the nose, the tea opens with a grain-like aroma that feels natural and unadorned. There are no added flavourings or sweeteners, allowing the inherent fragrance of the tea leaves to emerge clearly and authentically.

On the palate, the infusion continues in this restrained and natural register. A light but persistent bitterness reflects the presence of tea tannins, while the absence of sugar allows the purity of flavour to stand at the forefront. The overall taste is clean, slightly dry, and convincingly true to its source.

The mouthfeel is typical of well-prepared black tea: slightly astringent, drying but not harsh, and smooth enough to support easy drinking. The finish carries a lingering impression of tea leaf character with a soft, refreshing astringency that remains on the tongue without becoming overpowering.

For its clear sense of place, minimal intervention and authentic flavour, Nulife Sun Moon Lake Black Tea earns its place as a finalist for the 2025 Jury Prize.
