As expressed in the speech of our jury President, Mr Bessemans, Diet and Health in food quality and safety is becoming the main issue of the 21st century. Monde Selection has been at the forefront of food & drink quality selection since its inception in 1961. It will therefore be no surprise that, given the success of diet and health food supplements over the last few years (previously included in various selections), we have decided to confirm the Diet & Health Selection which will be opened and include solely diet and health food products.

All Diet & Health Products are directed to one of our two laboratories: BRUCEFO and BIOTOX. Analysis carried out in the laboratories are predefined by our Selection President, who, after thorough analysis of the documents and information at hand (pamphlet, notice of use, external product label, packaging labelling,...) will determine which of the contents, application performance are to be verified. Upon verification the results are then analysed and compared with the original information. A variance of plus or minus 10 percent is allowed for any one of the components analysed.

This selection also includes different products based on pork, meat and fish. As with all other products submitted to Monde Selection every year, Diet and Health products have to comply with European Norms & Regulations in terms of hygiene and public health and all tests continue to be executed at the Brussels Center for Food Expertise (BRUCEFO), which is attached to the Economy & Employment Ministry of Brussels.
