A remarkable Sake in its most delicate form

Founded by Shozaburo Miyazaki in 1846, the Miyazaki Honten company enjoys a longstanding tradition in the production of sake, shochu, and mirin. Over the years, it has experienced constant growth through the accumulation of commercial honours.

One of the best products to ever emerge from this company is the Miyanoyuki Junmai-Ginjo sake, whose most attractive feature is that it is prepared using exclusively Yamadanishiki rice. Viewed as one of the best rice varieties in its category, this exceptional ingredient is endowed with a particular set of morphological characteristics, including grain size, that foster an optimal polishing rate of 50%, ideal in the preparation of koji (fermentation starter for what is to become sake). True jewel of the Miyazaki Honten brand, this sake undergoes a prolonged fermentation process at a low temperature, ensuring a finish marked by well-balanced dryness and tempered by a hint of sweetness rich in rice flavours.

Designed with particular meticulousness, the Miyanoyuki Junmai-Ginjo case and bottle packaging are strikingly attractive at first glance. The sake itself presents a very pale yellow hue that borders on the transparent while the nose is marked by intense floral aromas that flourish into a highly delicate bouquet. Taste-wise, this high-calibre sake is at once fruity and very aromatic, but nevertheless fresh and pleasantly long-lasting, with hints of honey interspersed throughout. The finish on the palate provides an excellently well-balanced touch of bitterness. It can be savoured chilled or warmed, but expresses its full potential when served at room temperature. The Monde Selection jury was captivated by this delicious sake’s magnificent set of organoleptic properties, making it the undisputed winner of a Grand Gold medal and a «coup de coeur.”

“Each year, one product per category is awarded the Prize of the Jury as a token of excellence in know-how and quality. In order to qualify, the product must be unanimously selected as a “coup de cœur” by the jury members. The winner of the Prize of the Jury is then selected from a group of just 5 nominees, which makes this award an even greater honour for the recipient.”
