A fine and complex gin with a long finish

With over 75 years of experience in distilling and producing foreign-inspired spirits in India, the company Radiko Khaitan Limited started its business in 1943 under the name “Rampur Distillery.”

Today, it markets brands that are well-known on the Indian market, such as 8PM Whisky, Magic Moments Vodka, Contessa XXX Rum Old Admiral Brandy, but also – on an international scale – Rampur Whisky and…Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin!

The latter aims to summon and reawaken the splendour of the imperial age of the Maharaja’s and Maharanis and their way of life. The brand’s logo, featured on a black bottle with gold lettering, makes reference to the figure of the black deer that appeared on the royal standard of the city of Jaisalmer, in Rajastan, and which gives the product its name.

The composition of the product includes a series of hand-picked herbs and medicinal plants from the Indian tradition. The result is a product with spicy notes of coriander, tailed pepper, lemon and sweet orange peel, as well as Darjeeling green tea and lemongrass.

The Monde Selection jury had nothing but words of praise to address to the product, making appreciative comments such as:

“The aromatic bouquet initially emanates highly pronounced notes of juniper and then moves on to develop pleasant spicy notes and even orange or lemon for some of the jurors. The palate opens with softness and delicacy together with a well-integrated and well-blended alcoholic intensity. The juniper taste is also nicely pronounced with a certain taste that almost borders on sweetness.”

This product stole the jurors’ hearts as much for its finesse and complexity as for its elegance, leading them to unhesitatingly confer it the Grand Gold award as well as the nomination for the Jury Prize.

“Each year, one product per category is awarded the Prize of the Jury as a token of excellence in know-how and quality. In order to qualify, the product must be unanimously selected as a “coup de cœur” by the jury members. The winner of the Prize of the Jury is then selected from a group of just 5 nominees, which makes this award an even greater honour for the recipient.”
