Prevention of constipation…

Produced by the Japanese company Contribution Co. Ltd, Sururu is a drinkable dietary supplement aimed at preventing constipation.

To achieve this objective, the supplement contains partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG) as the main active ingredient. This ingredient has been assessed as being potentially effective in the treatment of constipation.
Although the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) has not yet concluded on the existence of a causal relationship between PHGG consumption and bowel function and/or bowel discomfort, the data currently available on this supplement is considered promising within this particular context.

In this regard, the Monde Selection experts particularly appreciated the fact that the labelled amount of PHGG per consumable portion corresponded to the quantity that has generally been reported as being effective according to studies.

The experts were pleased to note that the consumption of Sururu contributes to the daily intake of dietary fibre.

As far as both the global population and the Japanese population are concerned, it has been found that fibre intakes are on average below the nutritional recommendations made by national and international organisations (such as EFSA and WHO).

Furthermore, the experts considered that the product information provided to consumers was thorough and comprehensive, as it also included a precise dosage for the recommended consumption and many prevention mentions.

Finally, the ease of consumption and the small, practical format that allows the product to be conveniently transported at any time and anywhere were also highly appreciated.

A multitude of qualities that led the experts of Monde Selection to award Sururu the Gold award.

“Each year, one product per category is awarded the Prize of the Jury as a token of excellence in know-how and quality. In order to qualify, the product must be unanimously selected as a “coup de cœur” by the jury members. The winner of the Prize of the Jury is then selected from a group of just 5 nominees, which makes this award an even greater honour for the recipient.”
